Palm Unlocked comes with a sim pin and a removable sim tray. To open, simply insert the pin into the sim tray hole and push. This should open up your sim tray.
Verizon units come with a locked sim tray. Some users have found ways to open them. They are not meant to be opened. Opening the sim tray will void your warranty and could also cause damage to the device.
