When your device in not in use, many Android applications are communicating with internet servers for to push notifications and update content and sync data for the next time you open it. Your Palm will get dramatically better battery life by disabling background syncing. When background syncing is disabled, your apps will still update and sync when you open them.
If you want to reduce distraction while saving battery life, you can disable background sync for apps. To do this:
1. Open your Palm settings.
2. Tap Users & accounts.
3. Disable "Automatically sync data" at the bottom.
By doing this, apps will not sync in the background and will not send notifications until you open them.
Disabling background sync can be a major benefit to battery life, but still allows phone calls to be received when your screen is off. This is a great alternative to Life Mode for many users.
